‘A year changes you a lot.’ How true is that! I am sure no one would disagree with me if I say, you are not the person you were a year before. Same is the case with the ‘Trends’. They change at a swift pace. We always go after what is trending and new. Talking about ringtones, yesteryear’s collections might not attract those who change with the changing trends.
As the year is coming to an end, it’s time to analyse what has been trending this year. Here’s the category wise analysis for the year 2017-
- Bollywood:
This year has witnessed some great music in Bollywood. There has been some groovy party songs, soulful melodies, sad songs and cool remixes.
- Movies like Raees, Kaabil, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Bahubali 2, Tubelight, Mom, Jagga Jasoos, Golmal Again, Toilet all hit the silver screen with some catchy numbers and were very well received by the people. Incoming calls were welcomed by some good medleys and cut songs from these movies.
- Instrumentals too were much in use.
- Atif Aslam’s Hoor and Jaane De from Hindi Medium and Qarib Qarib Single respectively are still trending.
- Apart from the latest movies’ music, Nana Patekar Dialogues are in trend again. Thanks to the ever rising popularity of Social media trolls, Nana is back with a bang.
- Regional Music:
The fan following for South Indian movies is no less than the Bollywood. Music from the South has always been popular among the public. With maestros like AR Rahman, Ilayaraja and their likes, South has never experienced a musical drought. The best part about this collection is that besides the latest music, there are some tones that continue to trend for years. For example- AR Rahman mix, BGMs, Shiva Tandava, morning chant etc.
Not only Southern tones, but all other regional tones do trend as India is known for its diversity.
- This Apple is not Forbidden!:
With the launch of Apple’s iPhone 8 and X series this year, the iPhone tones have become a popular choice. Top rated tones’ category included the latest iPhone series’ tones. The gadget loving population all over the world chose these tones over the others.
- English Music:
- Despacito and Shape of you tones are no doubt the record breakers for this year. People are still in awe of the wonderful music. No wonder why it is still trending and loved by everybody in every part of the world.
- Alan Walker’s Faded and Sia’s Cheap Thrills are another top rated tones.
- Also, there are some tones that cannot be confined within a time. They are timeless music. The legendary artists like Bob Marley, Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley’s tones can never become outdated and are always trending.
- As far as Western genres are concerned, rap songs are an indispensable part. Therefore raptones are always trending. Who else other than the Rap God, Eminem can top this chart!
As we are in the last month of the year, we can enjoy what is trending and look forward to what would trend next year. The year is dying, time to change your ringtones too!
